Paving Brighter Paths

We are excited to share an inspiring story that embodies the essence of RIT and what sets our university apart. Let us introduce you to an alum whose commitment to giving back stands as a testament to the enduring impact our university has on students as they graduate and launch their careers.

The involvement of Karen Roth BS ’06 in RIT’s Society for Women Engineers (SWE) became pivotal, providing her with a supportive community and confidence in the tech industry. Co-op experiences and attending an SWE conference shaped her undergraduate years, where the dean’s discretionary funds enabled her crucial attendance. This support deeply influenced Karen’s decision to join the Sentinel Society and contribute to the college’s general fund, aiming to provide similar opportunities for students.

"Having the dean permit the use of college funds to cover the conference costs was remarkable. He knew how important it was for me to be there, and that had a huge impact on me. I want to help provide those same types of opportunities for students. Every financial contribution makes a difference and can go a long way to help someone. The college unrestricted funds are vital to helping students when the situation arises, just as it was used to help me when I needed it.”
